Is this a pretty easy installation to do myself........?
I'm looking at purchasing some "glow gauges" from eBay for my instrument panel on my 98 Civic. Will these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem be easy to install myself?
The person that sells this says there's no instructions and they recommend having a professional install it just because everyone's skill level is so different. I'm fairly handy but I'm not very good with electrical stuff.
How difficult would you rate this job on a scale of 1-10 (1=a 4 year old kid could do it, 10=Einstein might have trouble)? Thanks

i'd give it a 7. If you kno your electrical like i do then it's a 3. you'd get a 3 only because u have to put the needles on the same spline as before and if not ur readings can be off. other than that it should be pretty easy.... you've got a (-) wire and a (+) illumination wire. (-) goes to ground and your illumination u can get from either behind the cluster... or even easier.. behind ur radio. If u have an aftermarket radio ur illumination or dimmer wire will be the orange wire in the aftermarket harness. hope i helped u out.
i use to have a set like that BUT . . . after a while i guess the wiring got all fuckd up so i took it off and i loved the way my OEM gauge lookd'. But yea bro if your not good at eletrical stuff, i say u get it installed by someone who knows and dont let them rip you off by payin too much for installation. Its not alot that they are gonna do so yea. ^_^

I'm not flaming... but that's what I would call 'ricer-ish'. If you really want to change it, buy a CTR type back or get an Si one. You can find those on eBay too. Now that's IMO.
& to be honest, I did it once in the 5th gen lude I had, trust me, you have to be very careful when you take the needle off & pay attention to where it goes again.

yeah, you can do it yourself, but dont cry when you break off your fuel or temperature needles and have to spend another $35 to get a new section from the dealership, realize how dumb they were to begin with, and have to go through the hassle of removing it all down the road

I'm glad almost none of you answered his question at all. He didn't ask "What cluster should I get?" Or "What do you think of these guages?"
We could careless what you think about the things that he puts on HIS car, your opinions don't count here and they never will anywhere you go in your life.
Now that we got that out of the way..
I put these on my car a few years back, I really liked them at the time. The install was pretty easy. On your scale, I would say about a 4-5. The hardest gauge to get them on is the gas/temprature guage (assuming you have an EX/Si cluster). The wiring isn't bad at all, just wire it up to anything that is turned on when your parking lights are on.

Yeah, you don't want to EVER remove your needles; I don't think they will work properly if you reinstall them. It can be accomplished by sliding them on/over the needles.
