FF Accord into a FR Accord...
What would it take to turn a FF car into an FR car? Like my Accord for example... I was thinking about sticking a SR-20 DET in an Accord (97) but I wonder if it's possible to begin w/. Any pointers or other info. other than sarcasm is appreciated.
I Like my Accord but I'd prefer it to be FR and I'm sure others would understand Y...

It can be done if you have a whole **** ton of money to dump into it.
There's a RWD/FWD/AWD civic floating around with two engines.
You're much better off selling the accord and buying a different car

anything is possible with enough money.
to get your Accord to be FR, it would require a lot of custom fabrication, money and time.
To my knowledge, no one has made a FR Accord.
my advice... keep the Accord (since you still like it) and take the money you would spend on modifying it and buy a FR car. Best of both worlds

you would need to be BALLIN'! You'll need alot of money, more money.... followed by more money... and GOD-Like welding skills... but that's just my guess...
just get a S2K or a 240sx and throw a SR20det in it

If your goin to swap an sr20 into anything it should be a 240. Im a member at sr20forum.com and they have tons of info about swapping a sr into a ka powerd 240. If your going to try to make the SR fit into a accord and make it RWD your gonna need BIG pockets. BIG POCKETS. Im estimating 3-5g worth of parts, easy. Labor (if your not going to do this your self) would cost about as much as the parts. But if you do have big pockets anything is possible, and a FR accord would be nasy. Good luck!

there's plenty of that here.

I have seen one. It's a 6th gen coupe with a carborated (sp?) chevy 350 in it. It's not a street car. I can't find the pictures for the life of me but it does exist. And it is SICK.
To the OP: it's not worth the $$$ it would take to do this. Buy a 240 or the like if you want FR.

Fixed it for ya.
And yeah, I am now on a mission to find more information and pictures about this car. I heard about it before, but I didn't think it actually existed.

thanks, you'd think since I own a carbureted (hey!) vehicle I'd be able to spell it. but I can't. too much
the pics of the RWD 350 6th gen were posted on honduh.com a long time ago but that board is long gone and with it my only source of those pictures. (thanks again fred you jackass)
I searched google images for about 20 minutes to no avail this afternoon. dammit!

If you have enough money, do it. It would be awesome.
But you're not going to have much luck finding any info about it. Make sure you have a good mechanic/welder/fabricator.

shouldnt be too hard if you are able to see things that are gonna come up ahead of time, like maybe you should just unbolt the whole rear sub-frame from the unibody, make a template, somehow, or just hack a rear subframe from another identical car and like i said if you have good vision(design vision) liek keeping in mind the fenders of the car and stuff, and then just (somehow) attatch the subframe to any ol' rear drive system that will fit (probably a lexusIS or an altezza, w/e...) so that mounts in
then remove the fourbanger and everything else thats NOT necessary to hold the car up, then fabricate some mounts for the motor, if the motor doesnt fit b/c of stock frunt lower cross members, cut the section out, and weld some pipe like a strutbar, upside down... so the motor clears,
the driveshaft can just go straight down the middle where the exhaust used to be
rear suspension, umm brackets anyone?

my. I don't know whether i should be offended or flat out disgusted? I mean props for making some mad HP, but couldn't they have picked out something a little more american to put such an american motor into?Thats almost as bad as this kid i know who put a chevy 305 TPI into an 83 Celica/supra.

Dood an FR accord would look awesome. It's gonna be really hard. The engine bay is meant for a side to side layout. If you have a V6 accord, you might have a better chance of fitting a 4cyl front to back. I'm guessing this FR thing is going to cost another new car.
Thanks for the replies ppl. I'm gonna just stick w/ the accord the way it is and do the "s" h22 swap, slap on a monza exhaust, brembo brakes, not sure which type of headers yet though but I'm basically gonna mix & match.
the easiest way to go about this is to drop in a CRV drivetrain w/ alot of custom fabrication and of course a custom driveshaft. i know of a 4wd integra and del-sol both using cr-v drivetrain. yoou can disconnect the front axles and make it RWD.
