Default What service do I need?

Hi, I need help!

Do I really need to get those recommended 30/60/90,000 mile full service inspections? A few people said I really don't need to...but maybe just get my air filter and cabin filter changed...and just get my regular oil changes.

Also, about how often do brake pads need to be changed? I took mine in around 27K and they said they had to be replaced. I'm told that that is really early...I wonder if I got jipped.

Am I getting ripped off by going to the dealer? I need my alignment checked...should I do it there?

Sorry for all the questions. I hate to think I'm getting jipped at places because I'm a young female. I feel helpless. Thanks!!

I would say just stick to the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual. I don't think major inspections are necessary though.

30/60/90K mile inspections are a good idea if you can't do them yourself. Even if you drive 15,000 miles a year, that's only paying for an inspection every other year. The dealership will do an alignment, but you can probably get it done for less at a tire shop. How often your brake pads need to be changed depends a lot on your driving style. If it's mostly highway miles, then they're going to last a lot longer than in stop-and-go driving. 27K seems reasonable I suppose, it's hard to make conjectures without knowing the whole story. Maybe next time they tell you the pads need to be replaced you should ask to see them. If they really do need replacing they should be glad to show you the thin pads and offer an explanation to any questions you have.
