Tokico HP (Blues) & Eibach Pro-Kit
This summer I'm looking into slightly modifying my suspension. I'm not into auto crossing or anything for "high performance" so I'm pretty set on Tokico HP's.
I was just wondering if anyone is currently using this setup and if they could give feedback. Or previous owners of this setup. I just want to know how ride quality is/was.
It's going to be going on a daily driver (literally driven every day to commute to school, go out with friends, etc.) so I want something relatively comfortable that won't bounce much or feel every bump in the road.
Any and all feedback appreciated

Other than adjustability, is there really that much of a difference between HP and Illuminas? I mean, for a daily driver, I won't need the 5-way adjustability. I'll probably keep it on 1 setting for more than 95% of it's use.
Why would you recommend Illuminas though? Both of you.

You could get the Eibach Pro Damper over the Blues if you do not want any adjustability.

Hmm... So those are just like regular shocks? Nothing different?
The only reason why I'm iffy on them is because I read all the reviews and most people said they're stiffer than stock and some even said it was too stiff for their likings. But a lot of people did mention handling improved tremendously and that is what I'm looking for. However, I'm not looking for any superb or insane like for auto-crossing. I just need to get new shocks without spending much because my stock ones are blown.

you will want the adjustability. set it and forget it.
and you will want the better quality.
get illuminas. you can get them for under $400 shipped on ebay from reputable sellers.
or waste your money with blues and GR-2's like many others have regretted.

Hmm... I'll consider it. And for future reference, is it the rear that needs to be stiffer or the front? I forgot. I was thinking of either doing 2-2 (f/r) or doing 2-3 but forget which end should be stiffer.
If I were to buy the Illuminas, which end should be tuned stiffer?
Example - rear settings on 3 for both while front settings at 2 for both.
Or should they both be the same settings all around all the time? I remember a while ago a few people preferred having one end 1 setting higher than the opposite end but forget which ends were stiffer/softer.

Wow you were of no help to me whatsoever
. I'm not asking what I should set them to. I'm asking if one end were to be stiffer, which of the two (front or rear) should be set to be stiffer? I didn't think it was a big deal to know something before installing it or even before thinking about wanting it.

hmmm????? Still not sure man. Tyson was saying its a matter of preference. For street use most want to make the shocks match the springs, some use it stiffer front or stiffer rear. Read up on suspension tuning then descide. Some guys will tell you to run level 2 f and r some will say set it at max stiff, and grit your teeth. We cant give you an answer. If you dont know or care, just buy some non adjustables.
i'm running the tokico blues with eibach springs and if you go too low the struts bottom out way to easy. i dont really like the struts at all. i had KYB agx's on my b13 sentra and loved them and i have a friend running koni adjustables and he really likes them if that helps
I know Koni Yellow's are great. I would get those if I could afford them. But like I said, I'm not looking into big time modification. Just daily driver use so I wanted something new but nothing "high performance".
I guess Illuminas would work...

What how much were you dropped? Driving conditions? Run into a lot of pot holes, bumps, etc?

Still haven't answered my question.
1. How much was it dropped?
2. I'm not from Cali so I wouldn't know anything about the roads so how were road conditions?
3. Have a full car or close to often?
It doesn't take much to have shocks go bad if you abuse them too much. Tokico HP's are only about 15% stiffer over OEM and don't offer much stability if you push them past a certain limit. Doesn't take much to kill shocks at all...
