Hey everyone, I work for a very large collision repair company in Canada and today I got an estimate for getting my rear bumper painted (it got scratched up 2 winters ago by a girl in a VW) and also asked about getting my front lip, rub strips and rocker panels, etc. painted on my 93 Civic coupe. The shop owner gave me a price on the bumper without any problem but when I asked about the other pieces, he wouldn't even give me an estimate but instead said he wouldn't do it because "they're not designed to be painted and the paint will just peel off even if it's prepped correctly". Now I've seen all sorts of 92-95 Civics with this done, and I'm just curious if what he's telling me is true. (I don't work in the shop, I'm a graphic designer working for their corporate office.) Anyone with these pieces painted, can you tell me how yours is holding up and what they did to it to get it to work well?
sound like he just doesnt want to do it. eather that or he is new to painting. there is no reason why he cant paint those paint for you. unless it is like a one day paint type of thing. and then you get what you pay for and that is crap...it is all in the prepwork. if he is giving you those types of excuses dont let him do it any ways cuz he'll just screw up. if i were you i would have some one else paint it. if what he was saying was true how can you paint Wings West urithane body kits??
