I'm about to order new Mickey Thompsons for my HXs, but don't know what size to get. 20.0" x 6.0" X 14" VS. 20.0'' x 8.0'' X 14'' or 24.5'' x 8.0'' - 14''. I've heard people running the 8" on HX wheels but have also heard its too wide for the rim itself? I don't know. What you guys think?

This will be for a N/A 200whp GSR with a stock Y21 B16 tranny with stock LSD

 

Minimum recommended width for the 8" slicks is 6" according to Summit. You may get away with using the HX rims, but you might be safer on the 6" slicks. Any reason for using the HX rims and not going with Lenso's and say, 22x13x8 slicks?

 

Just can't afford Lensos and got the HXs for real cheap

 

I see. I think it would be safer to go with the 6" slicks.

 

The 20.0x8.0.14 work on HX rims great. My friend has them on his 92 eg and it hooks great. He has 192whp B18C1 in it.

Why not the 8"s? (just trying to understand)

 

I guess for me, it's just a peace of mind kind of thing. The 8" slicks should be ok with the HX's, as the HX's are only 1/2" narrower than the minimum recommended width.

 

Yah they will fit, like I said, my friend has them on some HX rims and they work great for him, also looks normal on the streets when he is racing.
