so my moms bone stock mint condition 97 accord 4 door got rear ended today. impact felt strong but i supose there is not much damage.
i was just wondering what it should cost to fix it and if the bumper needs to be replaced. there is about a .25-.5 inch gap on both sides of the car where the bumper meets the body

I backed into a car and left about the same amount of damage. Came to be like 550. Thats not including replacing the bumber either. So if you need the bumper cover replaced id say around 800.
It looks like you just might be able to fix the clips on the bumper, since it doesn't appear to have been damaged structurally, maybe it could use paint I guess.
well if you lived here in tennessee you could go to hilltop honda and get a used mint condition rear bumper cover for 100 bucks..and get it painted for maybe another 100...thats how it went for me anyways..maybe im just lucky!
a lil wetsanding should take most of that out if you dont want to get it wetsand take it to the body shop and they should be able to paint it for under 250 if you lived in the bay area friends place would do for under 2 but bump for you

All assuming nothing was bent behind the bumper, I got that nasty surprise one time, guy hit the side of the rear bumper, looked 100% fine from the outside and even a quick look inside, comes to find out a bunch of metal was bent behind the bumper cover and the cover just didn't break
