GM vehicles have a lot of problems with carbon build up on the cylinders, they use a fuel/intake system cleaner. A solvent gets injected through the throttle body and fuel injectors via the fuel rail. I belief the brand use is BG Fuel injection cleaner, it comes in a package of four bottles. Honda top engine cleaner is very good but not strong enough in my opinion and it gets injected through the intake manifold via a vaccuum line.

huh ill try that but would it help with the build up on the valves, or will it just clean the injectors and intake system

did u let it sit for 10-15min after u put it in. thats what lets the seafoam start to eat at the carbon buildup.

the intake solution will go through the intake and clean the valves. You will notice a significant change in throttle response, I don't think you will be disappointed with the results. The honda top engine cleaner is a lot easier to dispence all you need is a container with a valve to regulate the fluid flow and a long vaccuum hose. I generally will remove the purge control vaccuum hose and use the port then keep the engine steady at 1700-2700 rpms depending on how much the engine misses. Use the valve to regulate the amount of fluid it flows and try to keep the rpms low. The vacuum created in the intake manifold will draw the fluid out of the container. You don't want to go to fast, make sure the engine is really hot prior to doing all this.

IM no expert on this, BUT im pretty sure that your supposed to let your engine suck up the seafoam and the let it sit, turned off for 15 min. the reason for this is by the time your engine sucked up all the seafoam it is in the top of the motor, i.e. Vavles. and that 15 min is when it eats away the carbon. i did it to my car last week and i had a bunch of smoke. i let mine sit for 20 min though. it should matter that much but definetly 15-20 min. Also carbon builds up in layers, so doing 2-3 sessions of seafoaming through the motor definetly wouldnt hurt.

you definitly should let it sit. be careful about doin it a bunch of times however. i have heard you could actually hurt some seals in your engine, since seafoam contains a detergent which can dry seals. dont over do it.

i seafoam about once ever 6 months (or longer).

yes, you should change the oil, i changed it about 40-45 miles after i seafoamed. I dont know all too well about the oil, but i do know that the seafoam thins out your oil so therefore if you drive for an extended peroid of time its like getting no lubrication. i would say 25-50, including your "spirited"drive to burn off the Carbon.

I drove my car at middle-high rpm's around my neighborhood and let the smoke pour out. Then I came home and changed my oil

so for how long should i let it sit before i start my car agian, then how long should i let it run with seafoam, and then change my oil, and should i drive or let the car sit while running getting the smoke out. and this time im thinking to put half in tank, and other half in engine, and ill be doing it tommorow

ok, once the motor has sucked in all the seafoam you want it to suck in, turn the car off and let it sit for approx. 15 minutes. when you start it up again, its gonna feel like its having trouble starting up, but dont worry its supposed to feel like that. once its started up drive the car around, but make sure you keep the RPM's high. Just drive like you are in a hurry somewhere and step on the gas. You do this bc it burns off the carbon much better than just idling or whatever. There is no time you are supposed to drive around like that. Just drive around till all the smoke is gone.

P.S. Im thinking that you are thinking you are supposed to put all the seafoam in the Motor. But the usual way people use it is 1/3rd in motor, 1/3rd in gas, 1/3rd in oil, but its not necessary to do any combination of any of them.

Here is how I have used it and had great results.

1) Don't use the brake booster. I use the fuel reg vac line since it is in the middle of the IM. The smaller vac line disburses it better.
2) Only use 5 oz's or so the first time. Shut off the car for 15min. then reapply another 5oz's and shut it off again.
3) Get it to start and do rev it. I do the freeway in 4th for a mile or so then turn around and change the oil. I filled my garage with smoke the first time I did it.

I don't use it in the tank or the oil. They already have added enough additives in gas and oil for cleaning purposes.

We usually use gm top engine cleaner. Warm the engine up to operating temperature, suck in about half the can using the throttle to keep the engine running then let the engine stall and let sit for 15-30 minutes. Take it out for a drive and blow all the crap out.

edit> Are you sure the egr system is in good working order?

if you dont want to pull the head off then i would just load it up with fuel injector cleanor like super concentrated and seafoam it again
then disconnect ur battery so the ecu clears itself then run it for a few miles i forget how many miles it is so that the ecu can retune itself then hope for the best as you go for the smog also might want to look at the cat depending on how many miles your car has.
