Default custom exhaust

i am undecided whether i want to go with 2.25" or 2.5" for my custom exhaust. i do know im going with straight pipe, 22" resonator and 22" x5"x14" muffler. the fujitsubo header i have is 2.5", but most muffler shops are telling me i will lose low end if i go with 2.5" and 2.25" is best for a 2.2 liter engine. with the collector of the header being 2.5" and the piping being 2.25" will i still make power or will it be a problem? i would like to header from people with a full 2.5" exhaust system and if they lost any low end or maybe they gained some.

thanks

What are your plans for the car?

When I did my 2.5" I didn't feel I lost anything anywhere throughout the whole rev range.

what motor do you have? 2.5 is def the way to go with that nice header. You will have much more increase at high end than loss at low or mid. 2.5

At sea level go with 2.5. And I would just throw a Magna Flow resonator on it and forget about the muffler. So from cat back... 2.5 pipe, then in place of the muffler throw Magna Flow resonator on an be done.

No.

We drive 4-banggers, with what little tq and hp we make, you won't feel a noticable difference, maybe a sight difference on paper.

lose any low end...what low end?

You just need to go with a 2.5 and call it a day. You're worrying about it to much..... trust these guys, most of them know what they are talking about.

all right then im going with 2.5" mandrel bent piping. i know for sure i will feel alot of an increase in power above around 4k and up. after installing my cold air intake with the bpi flow stack and K&N filter on it, my low end went up but when i get above 4k i can tell the exhaust is restricted. now i just have to worry about sound, anyone know how a 22" magnaflow paired up with a 22" resonator would sound?
