new and have transmission fluid question
im quite confused, a few menchanics told me my car doesnt use transmission fluid, so wut do i have the haynes manual said "transaxle fluid",,, what is this and how is it different from transmission fluid, also can i use honda mtf for this?
Ummmm... What kind of car? '72 Pinto??
Newer Hondas with manual trannys take Honda MTF.
Older (up to about '96?) take 10w-30 engine oil in the manual tranny. Honda MTF is good in those trannys.
Even older (I don't know - late '70s?) it's possible the manual tranny needs API GL4 or GL5 gear oil. Honda MTF is NOT good here.
You really need to find out from the owner's manual.

Some people say they've had good results with GM Synchromesh, but I haven't tried that.

Same thing really.
Keep it Honda MTF, you won't have to worry about a thing

You have a transaxle, but most people still call it a transmission.
On a rearwheel drive car, the differential is separate from the transmission. Transaxle is just a term someone invented for a combined transmission with differential inside the same case.

thanks for clearing that up guys, my shifting is kind of rough sometimes after the car has been running for over 20 min, could that be the cause of needed tranny fluid changed?

It's possible. Drain it and refill with Honda MTF (manual transmission fluid), and see if it improves.
