Default ignition timing ,shocks

okay has anyone have a lowered 94-97 honda accord and have blown shocks.. the shocks bottom out and make this noise as if i was beating on a drum set... sound like i'm hitting the drum on a drum set.. is that me banging my upper knuckle/upper control arm to the fender or the shocks is bottom out.. when the shocks bottom out in the front it makes a thump noise but on the rear i'm guessing its hittng the control arm and fender..

okay today i was listening to a maxima that was out of time.. sounds like a weak cranking noise.. how did the guys suggest timing belt/chain when the guy states that he change the dizzy cap so i told him he might have move the rotor.... he said no.. i think he just wants to make more money trying to fix the timing chain for the customer.. when ur out of time your not getting right compression like.. whats really happening inside the engine when ur out of time..

Well First off, The timing is what keeps the crank and cam(s) in line so that the valves are open or closed during crank strokes...

like when you crank over your car.. the pistons come down and the intake valves are open, it comes back up and the valves are closed, then the spark plug sparks and creates the combustion stroke, and the pistons go back down and come up and then when it comes up the exhaust valve is open

So the timing keeps it in like so that The valves are opend or closed when they need to be

And yes if your struts are blown youll have a banging, and usually when ur cars lowerd wrong it will blow struts

so if the belt jumps one tooth it will do that.. what about when u turn the rotor until it start.. how does turning the rotor affect anything i do know that its bolted into the camshaft...

if you turn the rotor in a distributor ignition, it will only mess up the spark timing, not the valve timing. What year is the maxima? Unless its really old skool, most from like 1993 and up have Coil on plug, or atleast DIS ignition.

Second, all maxima's have timing chains with plastic guides to tension the chain. Over time the guides wear out and the chain slacks up and can skip a tooth and really do some damage.

Third, yes it does sound like your strust are blown, you need to replace them ASAP. Its not safe to drive on blown shocks, you can lose control of the car quite easily.

94 maxima and its not DIS..

yea but if the spark plug timing is all fucked it would never spark it will just crank i can understand if the firing order is wrong it will run like **** but if its way off it will never start right can't that be a sysptom?

I had this problem with my shocks..im guessing you probably lowered it way to much which is what I did at first..2" or more im assuming...save up and buy some KYB AGX's..well worth the money...bout 400-500 bucks for the set...maybe cheaper on ebay
