Default Reducing Wheel Hop

I was just wondering what would reduce wheel hop besides a traction bar system.

I saw that it was about $350 shipped without the front torque mount from explicit speed performance...

*EDIT*
Sorry, Should have used search first...

Stiffer motor mounts. Try innovative mounts from Robear racing.

Nothing beats a traction bar, though.

There are no cheap ways around wheel hop!

You don't need none of that .. Just learn to take off smooth. Each car // driver will have their own technique. I think tires and tire pressure make big differences on take-off. Just learn your car. I have a stock front crossmember and OEM motor mount inserts and no wheel hop for me.

Lowered roughly 3 inches on skunk2 sleeves paired with tokico blues, not the best combo .. but gets it done for now.

Yes that is certainly part of it, but that only goes so far, when you're making more power you need more assistance than just "knowing the car". I take it you drive a relatively stock car...

Haha, and what kind of power are you making? It isn't much if you don't have wheel hop on a FWD Prelude without any aforementioned traction stuff.

I got the basis bolt-ons, nothing too major. Lets say this ... If I had 200 whp N/A on my lude ( which I don't ) , I would still ease off the clutch rather than just popping it right off the line. Maybe LSD tranny would help on wheel hop, The only wheel hop I experience is when i pop the clutch fast during take off. So I learned not to do that. That and I expereinced with tire compounds, hard to soft.

True, but bottom line is better traction and less wheel hop = faster car. Even though it can be avoided, you still loose some time feathering the clutch...

I don't see much wheel hop myself in my boosted lude. I find it that I seem to get a lot more acceleration anyways by feathering the clutch on take off. You are not going anywhere if you are spinning a lot, nor are you going anywhere fast if your tire (tires) are bouncing on the road. I have to feather the clutch on take off, and then feather the gas upon entering full boost due to my stock suspension not wanting to keep the front end down on the ground....Your problem could be worse ya know

shameless plug:

Or you could use a solid spherical bearing to replace the rubber radius rod bushings.

, I am really liking that solid spherical bearing. I think I will place an order and give it a try. Funny how I was thinking about modifying the stock rubber bushings for something in the same fashion.

My buddy has an '96 Accord, which is hardly a Prelude, but he has 17'' wrapped in Kumhos and has no wheel hop whatsoever, and can also take a hard turn doing 50mph just fine. Has tried to spin them off the line, and it's impossible (at least in the Accord haha)
