Default BOOSTED OWNERS What success or misery have you had with stock axles ?

Looking to make about 300WHP with my teg. How much torque do you think stock axles can handle? My engine is a B18B so torque is gonna be in the 280WTQ area. Is stock axles a lost cause?
Will preloading help me out, or they are still gonna break?
Running street tires(16's) by the way, so am gonna be getting a good bit of wheel hop.

Any input would be great

get traction bars. wheel hop will destroy them. other than that stock axles often see 300whp range in lots of peoples setups.

i had a turbo b20 i recently de- turboed it because of gas prices in california and me not making enough money. but ive had stock axles with no problems at all.

I ran stock axles for a long time on my setup. Never had a failure, until I started making more traction. Put slicks on there, and boom! Broken axles. I'm making upwards of 500 at the wheels, and I still use stock axles though, through AutoZone. They have a lifetime guarantee on them, so I just keep 2 sets at all times, and trade them out with new ones when they break. Beats paying a grand for heavy duty ones, that don't have a lifetime warranty.

At 357whp, I eventually felt them starting to give, but I drive them now without the turbo kit and they seem to be fine. If those traction bars will help, I'd suggest getting them and if you can afford some Gator axles, I'd get those too.

wheel hop can be eliminated or atleast reduced with polyurethane's for motor mounts pretty cheap

Well I have the set of torque mount inserts from energy suspension. I guess i'll pick up a set of engine mount inserts from Prothane.
