Default ls head question

i have a 95 ls with a blown headgasket car still runs fine but after about 15 mins it will go straight to hot exhaust smells like coolant so when replacing this headgasket im wanting to know if there is another option to me buying arp head studs cause this ls motor is not having any upgrades done to it i just need it to stay in until i finish building my ls vtec motor any alternatives for head bolts ?

From what everyone has said on here, the headbolts do not stretch,
So I'd say it would be safe to reuse them atleast once.

^^^ yeah if it's just to get you by you can reuse them, when i did mine i used arp studs tho, i figured i could always sell them if it came to it, it's up to you, if your going to have the ls vtec going soon just reuse the stock ****, good luck!

head bolts always stretch because of the amount of upward force combustion has on the head. You won't need ARP head studs but I would spring for new head bolts if you don't want another leaking hg

I have 300K miles on my original head bolts, they work just fine. I have taken the head off once, no telling how many times it was pulled before I bought it. My feelings are, if you are going to build a high-compression motor, then upgrade, but if you have lame 9.2-1 compression, don't bother.

If you're going to bother with getting new bolts, just buy the ARPs now,
because they're actually cheaper then stock headbolts.
