Anybody who has had their R stolen
I had my 97 R stolen 3 weeks ago and havent gotten my insurance money yet. Anybody who has been through this, what should i expect back? I have 10K in receipts and want to know how bad my insurance will try to screw me. Please give me an estimate, or hints on dealing with this ordeal.
I've heard you can get 50 cents on the dollar for mods if you have receipts, but I'm sure this varies between insurance companies. Good luck.
Be prepared....
Some insurance companies don't cover ANY aftermarket parts at all (Even with reciepts).
Also, as you can see from my sig, they really like taking their time settling claims.
Good luck!

usually the insurance company would want to setup a meeting between their attorney and you so they can get a statement under oath for you. I would suugeste you consult a free legal advisor and ask them what you should do. Another hint, dont' call them on the phone...get your claim adjuster's email and contact him through email. This way, you'll have a record of all your conservation so in case a this matter end up in court, you have something to back you up too.
By the way, always a good idea to have your parents or agent call for you. (That is if you're young) They tend to treat people with "age" with respect more.

This is how my Insurance company compensated me for mods. Rims where the cost of the rims minus the cost (market value of my stock rims) The price gap was 900 (thats what I got for rims) I got the full value for my stereo system 2000.00. I got 120 for my shocks (70 a piece) (stocks were 40 a piece) so I got the difference between that. Tires were 110 a piece (i hat 17) stocks were 70 i think so i got the difference between that. In all I ended up with a 6000 check from insurance from mods and market value. THis was on a 97 civic ex. This is how pretty much all insurance companies work. They prorate everything, you will not get the full amount unless its full add on and not an upgrade part. Also by law if they total your vehicle, they 30 days to compensate you, unless they keep your claim under investigation. Also check out what your insurance companies policy on mods are. Some insurance companies wont. But keep reciepts and have photos.
