Parachute Mount... NHRA Rule?? Chassis Buldiers
im not sure if this is the right forum. but a local cage builder here, was trying to find the rule on the parachute mount for NHRA certification cage.. his question was...
how far does the chute mount have to extend beyond the car? or how far does the chute pack have to be from the car? to be NHRA legal. it is on an EVO if that matters.
please help H-T!

I don't think there is a rule specifing those dimensions. You have no make sure its anchored to the cage or chassis in a strong safe manner. Then mount the top of the chute pack about flush with the trunk lid on a 45 degree upward. About 10-16'' from the back of the trunk lid. Most people don't put that much angle on it but with recent convo with stroud racing they say that is good way to get the pilot chute past the air thats coming off the trunk lid thats trying to bat it down.
