Project Pheonix Rising: Part 1

The Project Objective: To build a competitive multi facet street/race car that can be competitive on both, a road course and at the drag strip.
The concept of this project is the brain child of Joshua Solis of Good USA. The concept is simple, build the ultimate naturally aspirated front wheel drive street/race car from the ground up. The goal is to keep the car completely streetable while being able to raise hell on both the road course and the drag strip.
To start, the vehicle was stripped down to near nothing. Everything that wasn’t going to be retained for this project was tossed, including the R's stock B18C5 powerplant.

Once the car was completely torn down the fun began. With the help of Pacific Honda in San Diego California, an entire wish list of K goodies were attained:
First on the list was a K24 block:

Along with the block came a shiny new k20Z3 cylinder head complete with rocker assembly:

Pacific Honda also treated our project to a complete gasket/seal kit:

VTEC solenoid and various sensors:

And to top things off, a brand new CRV final drive set:

Rick Solis-
A pic of the brand new F22C crank. Its going to be modified to the exact stroke and weight requirements for this project. Sorry guys, but for right now the details on the final stroke and other specs of the rotating assembly are going to be kept under wraps. Well get more into detail as the project goes along.
I would normally offer a billet crank for this type of rotating assembly but since we have Honda's helping hand for the time being we decided to use a modified OEM F22C crank.

More stuff to come
This is just the introduction, a "teaser" of sorts. Over the next several months we will be bringing you parts 2, 3, 4 and 5 which will be covering the complete engine, transmission and chassis/suspension build process from beginning to end. There will be a few things that we will be doing with this project that have not been done before, there will also be a few new parts for the Honda market from various manufacturers that we will be debuting in this series of articles as well.
Stay tuned, this is just the beginning, Part 2 is coming soon...
