I got these piston rings from hastings and i dont know which one is the top ring

I got these piston rings from hastings and i dont know which one is the top ring
I do have a helms manual but the hastings directions says that the mark faces upward if i were to make the mark face upward on the rings it would put the grooves on the piston rings in the wrong spot
please help

The thickest ring goes to the 2nd groove. The 2 twins go on the bottom. And the left over on the top.
