VTEC not like before after Skunk2 Intake Manifold on D16Y8?!?
A friend of mine has a 96' civic ex coupe 5-speed and after we installed the skunk2 intake manifold the vtec doesn't seem to be kicking in, it gets loud but doesn't Bang in like before. The CEL "Check Engine" light is NOT on but the IACV is bad and the idle goes up and down... 1k-2k etc... Would that effect performance? What should we look over to make sure everything's operating as intended? Anything we might do to help the car out? we are using the stock throttle body and a 2.5" cold air intake... The 3" Short Ram seemed faster. Does anyone make 3" cold air intake kits for the civic? We have a Holly 66mm throttle body but haven't decided weither it would be worth it.... We might just pop it on there to see if it does anything for the hell of it.
THANKS

i have a 99 EX d16y8 5spd and is there any way to tell when, or if the vtech is kicking in aside form jus the feel?
You should Hear it KICK in at 5500rpm. Before the intake manifold it kicked in all the time, every time. Now it just gets loud and pulls after 5k but no VTEC kick?!?
wow thats the varible timing right there where it slightly pulls but gets louder, damn haha KICK in lmao ricers
lol, haha, It kicks but doesn't really pull much harder, the motors only making a little over 120hp like any d16. HAHAH FUNNY *** LITTLE DINKY VTEC MOTORS!
