Ins. Company ITR worth?
well as some of you know my R was stolen back on 2-14-07. and the insurance company finally got back to me today (4-5-07) to tell me that they are going to give me a check for my car (only took them almost 2 months to decide that
) and they are going to let me know in a few days what they think the value is. (and sadly no they still have not found my R).
so my question is what is a fair price for my R. it had roughly 71,xxx, i can claim $1500 in aftermarket parts, body was in good condition minus a dent in the trunk lid. what do you think are going to offer and what is fair? anyone that has dealt with the insurance company before please give me some insight if you could, TIA.

Be prepared when them come to you with their lowball offer. And have quotes from other Type-R's in your area with the same mileage to counteroffer.
BE PREPARED, so they know they aren't dealing with an idiot.

well i did some research on cars.com, autotrader.com, nada.com, and kbb.com. there are not many itrs at all but i got a few plus i got pricing for gsr's and ls's as well just to compair. so im going to do some averaging out and have everything ready just incase. thanks for the replys so far.
yep thanks i just got a bunch more off of there as well. i really hope i wont have to argue with them on this as well its already taking forever and i need a car asap! they were giving me $15 a day towards a rental and here that would have been to expensive for me so ive just been bumming rides for nearly 2 months
Every year I get an updated value on my R from my credit union representative (where I have my loan). Last year she told me that my R had gained $2,000 in value and placed it at $17k. I have a 2000 PY and it had about... 7x,xxx miles on it at the time? She had me go through and list all the options the car had, plus told me that since it was listed as "classic/collectible" that helped it.
All you can do is be prepared with other ads like everyone else says, but maybe you can hunt down a banker who will back you up as well.
If you want, I can try to go to my bank for you and have her calculate your value? PM me if you want me to.
Good luck!

If your worried about "worth" in the Ins. Co's eyes, I would suggest just declaring a value on the car and pay the rates for that. No negotiations, no bitching. You get what you insured the car for.
Be prepared to fight it out with them. When I was hit by a uninsured driver two years ago my insurance company tried to lowball me with an offer of $13k even though I still owned $17k on it and had bought it for $21k four months prior. I used autotrader.com, cars.com and for sale ads on here that were for sale to get them to see how much the car was worth. After a month of negotiating I was able to get $20,500. I then bought it back and parted it out and made a quite a bit of money.

I had a vehicle appraiser go over my car for its "market value" and added on the modifications via provided reciepts, and now my car is insured for that amount. It is only a few bucks more a month for the adjusted value.
