Timing belt/water pump
I have a 98 Accord LX V6 that is coming up on 105k miles. I'm planning on changing the timing belt/belt tensioner this weekend, but have read online that I should change the water pump at this time as well. Is this the case? If so, is this a difficult job? (I'm a fairly competant do it yourself mechanic)

Yes you should do it at the same time
It can be a difficult job if some stuff is hard to get off.
It's not gonna be a 1hr gig.

Thanks for the advice, I will go ahead and tackle the water pump as well. I know it's not going to be a quick part swap. I'm planning on working on it all weekend if I have to.

LOL. For once a newbie actually says what kind of car & engine he has, and we don't pay attention.
I say we gotta give blang4d credit for saying what he has. Just for that I found some pictures.
Unfortunately I haven't done this on a V-6. The parts pictures don't show this very well, but here goes.


Top picture shows the timing belt removed. Bottom picture shows the waterpump (#3) viewed from the opposite end of the engine. I think the top picture shows the waterpump (not labeled) near the top. The waterpump pulley is above where the idler #13 is to be installed.
