Was just wondering what you guys use to block the hole with is the crank case evacuation when the pcv system is removed ? i know some people use the z10 plug but dont have time to order it and wait so let me know what you guys use to block it off with no leaks pictures would be awesome too. because i will be installing my catch can.

Dorman plug from the parts store...its under $3 and works fine (I added some jbweld for the hell of it)

i dont get why anyone would want to buy a z10 plug...theyre ridiculously expensive for what they do...

 

its designed to fit and it does the trick....why not?

You just need to know the hole size - I only know b18a/b (34.3mm) and it will do the same job

 

i thought they stopped selling the z10 plug separate from their kit.

 

I went looking for a plug back when i was blocking my piece and i couldnt find one anywhere. So instead i just ended up cutting a piece of sheet metal the size of the whole and JB welding it up. Never leakes or anything and it cost me **** i already had in the garage.

 

good idea and im in canada so dosent take 2days lol but that dorman plug or cutting a peace of metal should work fine some people told me they use freezer plugs does it work good ?

 

The plug i keep mentioning is a "freeze plug" or "expansion plug" if its made out of a softer, more expandable material (like copper/brass)
Its just what its called - same thing.

All you need is the size of the hole and you can make anyhting work. No need to spend crazy amounts of money like others do for the same purpose

JB weld a beer bottle cap in it!!!

I ended up using an expandable freeze plug from autozone. Its a rubber grommet; with a washer on both side with a bolt through it; you tighten the bolt and it expands the rubber. It works flawlessly

 

do you have a part number on that plug? ^^

I am installing a catch can to on my b16 and when I removed the black box there is a hole that it tapped for threads and one that is not... I know one hose runs from the threaded one but what do I use to block the other off????

dude thats what this entire thread is about.

 

take a micrometer and find the size of the hole go to a local automotive machine shop and ask for a freeze plug that size. pound it in and your done

 

Haha i hope you mean dial caliper or digital caliper. The hole for a b-series is 34.3mm which is just shy of 1 3/8" and inside micrometer for that size goes for a couple hundred bucks. I don't think people have them laying around. But any way b-series is 34.3mm in diameter like i said. I went to advance auto parts last night and picked up an expandible rubber plug for $2.98. It's basically just a rubber grommet with a nut and washer and as your tighten the nut it expands the rubber to form the hole you are putting it in. The one i picked up ranges from 34mm to 38mm

I wouldve slathered on some rtv sealant though (goes with the jbweld on my dorman plug - i fear leaks)

are those brass fitting on your vents anti-syphon?
