cam gears/pulleys
okay, my 99 LS is running pretty nice right now, but i want to get some more power out of it. right now all i have is exhaust, short ram intake, 4-2-1 headers, front strut bar, and its lowered. i was thinking about getting new pulleys and cam gears/getting it tuned. how much of a difference in power will get with the new stuff?
thanks in advance

Check this thread to see how much I, H, E, and cam gears with a good tune can do. Look at the last dyno at the bottom of page one. It compares a tuned stock car to that of a tuned I, H, E with cam gears. Went from 132 to 151. 19 whp , this is an old tired motor too

I would forget the pulleys.

yeah skip the pulleys. If you really want to look into some N/A power, try changing the camshafts, along with adjustable cam gears, Skunk2 intake manifold, and a good tune. One of my buddies got some REAL nice power out of some Crower camshafts on his old LS motor. The motor in his Civic DX coupe was running mid-low 14's at the track. Not sure which ones he had, some of them will probably work with stock valvetrain while others would need upgraded valve springs and retainers and such.

yeah, for the LS, the best thing to do is to try and get a shorter geared tranny. It does wonders. I had this on my old LS with crower stage 1 cams. My car pulled hard in the lower rpms. Lots of torque. I have my crower cams for sale. I only used them for 3 months, barely broke them in. Let me know if u want these. Ill hook it up for cheap.

you might as well get all this done before you get it tuned..cuz tuning is costly if its just for camshaft and pullys,,its a waste of money
