90 Civic Hatchback 4th gen. What seats can be made to fit- What "AfterMarket" seats are good?
.
Read thru some of the faq's.
Wondering if there is any "updated" info on what seats can be made to fit as most seats found at the junkyard for a 90-91 Hatchback aren't any better than the ones I currently have.
Need (front) seats for a:
4th gen 90 Honda Civic 3-Door Hatchback..
1: Wonder what can be "made" to fit. (From the very limited research I've done, ONLY seats from a 90-91 Hatchback DX or maybe SI will fit, SO the better option may be "aftermarket" seats...
2: What "AfterMarket" seats are worth a crap (that are priced cheaply)
3: A source for parts to re-build the stock seats- One online Honda dealer I checked no longer listing anything older than 1992
.
TIA!

Lots of different Honda / Acura seats can be made to fit by either swapping seat pans or using custom rails.

Worthwhile + cheap do not go hand in hand here, sorry.

Not a possibility for our vehicles, I think they *may* have seat cushion foam for the passenger side lower section but it's around $300

My recommendation is to look around for a good pair that is direct drop in if you're patient enough. I just found a 99% mint pair of Si seats after looking fopr six years, I do have the old ones for sale but I won't ship them.
Another option is to have them reconditioned an reupholstered by an upholstery shop, may cost you around $500 or so depending on labor rates and materials used.

Thanks for your input. Several years ago had the side panels replaced, special ordered what was "supposed" to be some OEM fabric... Had the drivers side done locally and was not happy with the results partly due to the material used (it didn't hold up) and the sewing job done...
This go around I'd try to sew them up myself... either like factory, OR installing a "wear-patch" like some jackets have on the elbow....
(First choice of course would be some type of seats from a later model that may fit.)
Along the lines of going to aftermarket seats as a example.... just ran across this post..
$299 for (2)...

Looking for something that will hold up, is comfortable.... Don't have kids so access to the back seat is not a big issue.
Looking also for a mounting system that is first class... none of that "(3) hole type swaps...
That being said if I can find something from a later model car that can be had "cheap", I'd weld a mounting plate if needed.
