Default 2000 ex all a sudden running HORRIBLE...

I was doing my maintance on my 00' ex...and i noticed that the timing was retarded a little bit...So i adjusted the timing and placed it in the middle...once i did that...the car started acting up hard core. I tried placing timing back to original place and no difference. Car is automatic. when i tap the gas....the car wants to die...Car LITTERALLY will not reach redline on full throttle. Car seems to run better on half gas than full throttle but still unbelievably shitty. Backfires like none other at higher rpm's. My guess is that it is the timing belt needs to be re-done...But i am wondering if by adjusting the timing...was i responsible for the mishap??? I used to adjust the timing on my si all the time with no problems. any help would be great. thanks!

You adjusted what to the middle? The distributor? Check you plugs, and use a timing light to reset your base timing.

It's not a suggestion. You can't go twisting the dizzy without a timing light to let you know what the hell you're doing.

p.s. Check out the FAQ and use the proper procedure when resetting the timing.

Doesnt matter...because the distributor wasnt the problem...car just recently through a cell...im guessing its a sensor...I noticed that the timing was all the way retarded when i looked at it and ive never owned a honda in that position...there for i set it to the middle setting...and if i wanted a vocabulary lesson i would have asked for it. Thanks for the info top_shotta. Ill check the cell out later tonight.
