Long Beach Grand Prix-view (Drift style) (56K get with the times)
Ok so I was going to Long Beach today with my GF (we had the hardest time getting to tequila jacks because all the roads were closed for the LBGP practice, so we had to go the long way around, and I decided to stop and see if I could find anything good to watch. Ends up I got there JUST in the nick of time to watch the Drift practice. This is probably the best way to shoot IMO since there is practically no one there to get in your way, or for you to be in the way of.
While looking at these pictures keep in mind that this was my first time shooting inmotion panning type shots (the shutter was too fast the whole time), also that this was planned, so I didnt have time to set-up, plan out set-up or anything. I also didn't know where the track started/ended until the end of their first lap. Some of the pictures aren't even capable of panning, since the cars slowed down towards the end.
I would appreciate C&C just keep it clean. I would really like tips on how to do panning shots. Thanks for looking!

I went into the pits (not sure if I was supposed to) but I think having the camera helped. These were just quick snaps, because my GF was complaining she was hot and hungry.

nice on monday they had a drift demonstration at cal state long beach. there was a green 350z, the red 240sx coupe a silver 240 fastback, a s14, and a rx8. the red 240 coupe during the demonstration the tire flew out and cracked his bumper and it was crazy. i got a ride in 350z and it was nice. i might be there for the event

Damn, and Im there every Mon/Wed except this one. I didn't know they would have this during spring break. That just made me bummed.

haha yeah i didnt know too. my friend worked that day on campus so he saw a sign as he was going to the parking lot telling about a drift event on campus then he called me right away and it was an hour before it started. they said that it wasn't really suppose to be out for the public or something iono

Damn they are out there early!! i thought thursday at the earliest!! But good pics, Long Beach layout sucks from a spectator perspective, so im going friday during qualifying to get on track and catch the action
