Default Cam gear question

I was just wondering how many degrees on a cam gear would be considered a tooth off, and would you notice that much of a difference being that far off.

Reason being, I had to advance my friends cam gear 7degrees to get his timing on time. Is this bad? He is also running a D15B with a vx timing belt and a Z6 skunk2 cam gear.

Please let me know what you guys think!
