Default Question about valves?

I am doing a mild all motor b18c1 build. I am getting itr pistons, skunk2 stage 2s, supertech springs and retainers, mugen headgasket, skunk2 i.m., aem short ram, smsp header, and skunk2 exhaust. My question is it important to upgrade valves? If so what kind?

itr intake valves and stock exhaust valves. no need to get super expensive valves.

Well, first of all ITR exhaust valves are the same as any other B vtec exhaust valve.

I do suggest you use flat faced valves from many of the different manufacturers out there. Use these to raise your compression, not a mugen headgasket. I suggest this because you can go to Honda any day of the week and be able to overnight (if its not in stock) a stock headgasket. You have to hope a mugen one is in stock somewhere in the US. besides that, your Piston-valve is less with a thinner head gasket. Use the valves to safely raise your compression.

Let me know if you need to order some, i sell many brands of valves

I saw a thread on here saying you shouldnt use stock valves, you have a chance of cracking a valve.

many many many people use stock valves and make a lot of power. i made 230 all motor on stock valves. there isnt anything wrong with using them, but i think in your application, get your compression up.

The only reason right now I am considering valves is because I dont want a valve to crack off and mess up my motor. Just wanted to see what everybody else is running. I can come up with the money if I need them but I rather not just because of the finacial postition I am in right now. Would it be smart to go with supertech since i have their springs and retainers?

How old are your valves? Have they been mis-used? Are you going to blame Supertech or Skunk is one of your used valves fail?

At 83K I would replace the valves, and have piece of mind.

Good set of valves $200-400

Blown motor " Because you dropped a valve and grenaded your piston" $750+

Skunk2 or Supertech to keep consistant. Flat face and skip the mugen head gsk.

Because he's smarter than you.

And the minute gain you get in compression wont outweigh the superior sealing properties of a 3 layer OEM gasket on this particular app.

I would rather increase compression by the valves than headgasket. Plus you need to surface the head ot make sure it is flat before you put it together.

if your surfaces are flat then it shouldn't pose any problem

IE valve's and the standard ( by rebuilders that offer a warranty) surface clean of the head.
