How many people here DD their Type-R's?
How many people here DD their Type-R's? How man people use their Type-R's just for the Track(without them being fully race prepped)?
I'm in the market for a type-r but was wondering if it's a wise decision to DD on one? Sad such a question rises becaue they're made to give you the best of both worlds. But you guys know how it's like out here so I thought I'd go ahead and ask the question that has been floating around in my head for awhile now and has been bothering me, maybe you guys can help me with the decision.
Would you DD your type-r AND take it to the track to have the utmost fun with it(even though that comes with the given risk)?
The obvious answer that it's my head now is Hell No. That dissappoints me. I'm stuck and I don't know what to do.

when i first bought my R i DD'd it for 3yrs.. i ended up putting 46,000 on the car which was a mind blower lol.. then i bought a beater and put about 8000 miles on the car in 2yrs..i sold my daily a couple months back.. Since i got someone to give me a ride to work, i really only drive the car on nice days or when i cant get a ride to work..Its not a bad for a DD (short gearing sucks in heavy Nova traffic but i deal with it). But i do not plan on tracking it again untill i get another beater or my truck (which ever comes first). I dont recommend tracking it if it will be your daily and is you only source of transportation.
I see, either or.
That brings some fresh perspective into it though, Thanks everyone.
Here's another question:
How many people just use their Type-R's for track only but are not strictly race prepped?

I DD it for the first year i had it but bought a beater to use for work and general knocking about in. I've only put up maybe 8 or 9k miles in it in the last 2 years. the way i see it, its fully paid for, for over a year now and i intend to keep it for another while yet and so the less miles i put on it, the better condition it'll be in when the time comes to sell it. Plus my EK3 is waaaay more economical for daily use!

I see tons of DD type-r's. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to drive it amd take it to the track. It is just a car man.
I dailyed the last r tell theft
i will daily this r tell i cant find parts for it and force to stop driving it so much. I love the ride the power and the feel of it.

Exactly what I'm worried about. That sucks, and to consider less of a car just because of that, sucks. I'm almost forced to choose a POS and hold off on my favorite car.

Part of me says it's only a matter of time before it disappears.
This is hurting my brain.

I DD'd mine for about six to eight months. Got real tired of the negative attention, and this was in 2000.
If you DD a Type R in SoCal, theft is a matter of when, not if.

yup. thats why once i finish my front end conversion. the car is only weekend sunny day driving anything else is on the 07 r1. If i get another r might make it a track ***** and daily it a little
I've had my ITR for about a year now and I've put 25k DD miles on it and taken it to 9 track days. I'm rebuilding my engine as we speak and I will continue to chug on since I've decided that I'm gonna drive this car until I give it to my first born (no I don't have any kids right now). It should be a memorable beater by then. But you never know... I might need the cash one day.
I have other vehicles but they don't see a tenth the action on the street or track as my ITR. Poor suckas.

I do both. And I don't worry about the chance of theft. In most places, it's NOT likely, as long as you take reasonable precautions about where you park, etc. And if it happens, that's what insurance is for.
(As andyt's analysis has shown, your car is more likely to get totalled in a crash than to get stolen.)

Well put.
I want to make sure I do this right and enjoy having a type-r.
I think a pos would be best.
I'm giving my DA9 to my brother so that's why I was contemplating an R, but the smart thing to do would be to get a pos for DD'ing in SoCal.
I dunnno.

I DD mine in the Spring/Summer months. However, I drive to work and back and that's about it. Going to movies, out with friends, etc I use my gf's 4 door teggy. I'll put on maybe 6k a year on the R. It sees the track about 8-10 times a year and its built for just that. Not full race prep but has a AP 4 point, full suspension, separate track rims, etc.
I say daily it unless you have people like no **** following your *** around.

I daily'd my mines for the 3 weeks of ownership. I got it without any plans for another daily. Within those 3 weeks it got broken into twice at 2 different locations
After the 2nd break-in I picked up a DA a day or so after.
