Hatch or coupe?
I'm lookin for a new ride but I can't decide between a hatch or a coupe. It will mostly be a clean *** daily driver.
Give me opinions on weight, trim, etc. This car might see some autox and hit the strip too. I want some opinions on pros and cons of each (power windows, trunk space, etc.). Don't just say 'Hatch!' or 'Coupe!' Give me your REASONS.
Thanks

I'd suggest going to a website that has all the specs/info you need by looking the hatches/coupes that peak your interest.. This site here to help you out, not write detailed reports.
For example go here: http://consumerguideauto.howst...c.htm

this subject has been covered so many times its not even funny try the search function make sure and set it to look in the archived files. Also check the stickies at the top of the page I think there is on in there with vehicle weights and trim levels

Get a 95 EJ1 (Ex coupe), they are cheap and come with pwdl, pww, ac, and a moonroof. Even though power anything is just something to fix when it breaks, it is still nice to have. Just my $.02

Haha, oh c'mon... its nice to have power windows. I love the EJ's... the hatch's are nice too. To each their own, both are good choices

aaaaAMEN.
aaaaAMEN.
I got the hatch because I need the storage for frequent camping trips.
Otherwise I might have gotten a coupe.
Though now I'll never own a coupe after having a hatch.

I have both a '97 CX hatch and a '98 EX coupe at my house, the couep being mine and the hatch being my boyfriend's.
Coupe:
- Much more trunk space. Also more private area unless you get a cargo cover for the hatch.
- Has a tendency to have a heavy *** in turns.
- Power windows, locks, everything.
- Can carry larger items (we can fit two entire bumpers and two people in my coupe... not a hatch though).
- Stock front sway bar (and LCAs have mounting points for that bar).
Hatch:
- Handles much better, though he has aftermarket suspension while the coupe's is stock. Friend's DX hatch handled better than the coupe though.
- I don't like to battle with not having power steering in a parking lot.
- Lighter.
- You can hear a lot more road noise.
- Exhausts get very loud in this car since it's not as well insulated in the back.
Both cars seemed to have very comparable gas mileage, though he is now getting better gas mileage since swapping to an LS.
Though my current coupe hasn't had the problem, my previous '97 EX coupe did have the same window sliding off the track problem as the hatch has now had. The hatch becomes unbearable to the passenger during the summer because hte passenger window is now stuck until it's fixed by Honda (parts need replacing and it's a real pain in the *** to deal with). At least if it were the coupe there would be a/c and a moonroof. Unfortunately Honda over charged the a/c and the a/c is presently broken too (this seems to be an uncommon problem though)!
The hatch also has the possibility of having a lift support go out. Our hatch has recently began to show signs of this (a lift support is leaking).

Dude... that's basically an EX hatch with rear disc.

The coupe is 10 inches longer.
We've gotten bumpers into a hatch before, but you can't have a passenger and it's more uncomfortable.
The coupe trunk floor is at least twice as big as the hatch trunk floor. It appears to be more than that even.

Seriously. I put boxes from work in my car everyday. I used to drive a coupe, now I drive a hatch, it is SOOO much easier to fit **** in the hatch. Yeah the coupe might be a little longer, but you gain so much vertical space in the hatch that you don't have in a coupe.
