99 Auto no reverse or fourth??
my buddy's 99 accord f23 automatic will not go into reverse or fourth (overdrive). It makes a faint knocking/grinding when driving when, if you throw it to neutral while rolling the noise goes away. 1,2,3 work great, once it shifts into OD it's like its in neutral. the CEL is on, still need to check codes. I don't know a whole lot about the shift solenoids and such, my guess is the tranny is done. but just to be on the safe side I wanted to get more opinions
Tranny is most likely toast, although this one seems to have failed in a non-typical way. If the code is for the tranny (and it probably it is), you should get it pulled with a scanner, or all it's going to tell you is "Automatic transmission failure".
ttt.... we came across a '96 accord, anybody know for sure if this tranny would plug and play? I'm sure it will bolt up, but the eletrical parts is what i worried about. I've looked around but found no definate answer..

97 and older transmissions will not work in a 98 or newer accord different units.....it may bolt up but the TCU will not be able to control it
