obd1 engine not running right in obd2 car
i put a d16z in 98 civic ex the knock sensor is left hanging and so is the ckf i think its called. i bought the jumper harness and hooked up the p06 ecu i know its not vtec i just wanted to see if it runs. well it blows out smoke and revs up and down over and over. thanks
doesnt the p06 control the d15b7? (usdm) wouldnt it not work then, on the d16z? i dont know off the top of my head what ecu is for the d16z. hell, for all i know, the p06 will do it. anyway, i know i had the p06 running my stock d15b7 so it seems rational, at least to me, that it might not work correctly on the d16z. just spit balling here. anyone know what ecu should be running the d16z?
thats what i thought. i didnt think plugging in the p06 "just to see if it runs" would really accomplish anything since the computer is not made to control the d16z.

z6 uses a p28, y8 uses a p2p
you guys need to realize that just because they're all 1.6 sohc motors doesn't mean you can use any computer. The y8 and z6 are pretty similar but do have different timing requirements. So get a p28 and do it right.
