97,000 miles on a stock 2000 si. tune up questions
ok so i have had the car for 6,000 miles and run only mobile one syn. the car goes through about a quart every 1,500 miles and i don't beat on it much. a couple things i have noticed though
at 2,500- 4,000 rpm the car is very "luggy" i don't know how to explain it, its just a bumpy ride until 5,000 (only when the pedal is all the way down) i know the b16 don't have torque but im suspicious that my timing belt or plugs wires ect. could be contributing to the problem. So i am taking the car to honda before the end of the month for the timing belt and water pump. I was also thinking about getting the magnecor wires and ngk spark plugs but a friend told me they wouldn't make a difference.
My question: What if anything else should i have them replace or upgrade while getting this service done? cams, timing, ignition, gimme suggestions !!!
Also: i have a friend with a 2000 civic black si that has a lot of body damage, i was going to buy the car from him, but know im only interested in his greedy evo 2 exhaust and headers, not sure how many miles on them, whats a good offer?

all far as the tune up goes, get the spark plugs and wires from honda....
other things you could change would include:
fuel filter
pcv valve
distributor cap
rotor
air filter (if needed)
all accessary belts (ac/ps/alt)
also, you should flush all your fluids including:
radiator coolant
brake fluid
clutch fluid
transmission fluid
inspect your axles and brakes while your at it as well
hopefully this helps

thanks for the info.
it seems like your saying to use all the honda parts, but wouldn't it be better to use performance replacement parts like plugs wires cap, or maybe a aem tru power pulley system?
its not that i want to keep it stock, i just don't want to do anything to drastic, some extra power here and there would be nice though.

autozone parts are fine too...i recommend to get the wireset and plugs from honda.....if you want some more power, you can buy a intake and header which might give you around 8-12hp...the pulleys dont really help much
just tell them to do the 100k service, its cheaper as a package deal that way if you can afford it. more expensive than having a shop do each individual check, but its the dealer.
also, if it were me and i didnt work at a shop and money was an issue AT ALL i would recommend going to a smaller shop, asking them to use OEM honda parts. same parts, cheaper labor rate than the dealer.
also, OEM plugs are just your basic NGK platinums, if you dont mind swapping plugs every 30k miles instead of 100k miles get the basic NGK copper core instead of platinums. i personally would never run a plug for 100k miles.
