Which welding helmet
I need another helmet, i have one of my guys welding now and need a second mask. What have you guys been using and what is the way to go. I have a hook up @ awisco by me and want to give them the business so if you could give me a recommendation id appreciate it.
It will be mostly used for TIG and MIG welding, i have an entry level jackson auto darkening one now, and dont mind spending good money on a solid helmet.

How many helmets have you guys used to compare too though?
I've used the:
Miller elite
Miller Xli (the one I own)
Jackson
speedglas
Nexgen
And honestly having worn and used all helmets, I can honestly say that I love my Miller Xix the best. Since they don't make it anymore I'd probubly reccomend the pro hobby, or the elite. The elite was just a little too big for me, and made it kinda hard to move my head around. The jackson is nice, but a little heavy. The speedglas would probubly be my second choice after my miller. It's pretty much on par with the miller, except I think my miller is a little more comfortable. The Nexgen is a horrible helmet IMO. It's heavy hard plastic (drop it and you'll crack it for sure), and the sides are so close to my head they rub my ears...and I don't even have that big of a head.
It's also ungodly heavy, and makes a full day of welding a pita.
2cents.

i have had two jacksons, then got the xlix as a gift about 3 months ago. the only other helmet i would get is the elite. but for now im totally happy with the xlix. on the cold days, the jacksons would fog up, the miller does not
Maybe I have an older nexgen or something but I like it. I don't weld for more than like 3 or 4 hours at a time once a week, so take it FWIW. It served me fine when I was working for corsa.
The miller, speedglass, and jackson's are all good. Just go to your local welding store and try some on.

Honestly, I dont like any of the autodarkening helmets, I like the plain old Jackson shadow for $25. Speedglas sucks, I dont like the light that enters from the side. I put duct tape over them. I dont like the EQ from Jackson either. That I dont think they are worth the money either.
