Default replacement engines?

does anybody know if you can purchase a stock d15b2 replacement motor? or preferably the si d16 for an 88 crx dx? This would be ideal for me if it is somewhat cheap because funds are a little tight and i dont want to have to worry about my engine with 230,000 miles on it.
If anybody knows where these may be available and roughly how much they are i would deeply appreciate it.

no, that is called a sohc zc....i am talking about a d15b, it has a dual weber carb setup and has pretty much the same internals of a d15b2 if i am not mistaken. You have to put a blockoff plate on the head cause it has a manual fuel pump as well.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1

that auction has pics of the blockoff plate, they arent really being straightforward about it being dual carbed originally

as for the SOHC ZC.....THEY Rock! i have one in my 88 dx CRX and i love it. pretty much the same thing as a d16a6 with a slightly more intense cam. I think the hp/tq are a pretty good match for our chassis as a dependable engine yet able to kinda get down when you need them, and they get decent gas mileage as well. all around good motor. best part is little to no mods to make work in our chassis as well. i believe Tippyman has one in his ride. he has a build thread on here somewhere.

BTW the d15b that i was talking about earlier is also a very reliable motor, just not the speed demon that most want. it is a very good 'direct replacement' for any ED and, paired with a dx tranny, a very economical engine as well. it all depends on what you want from your vehicle. for a daily driver on a tight budget deff stick with d-series or sohc, the requrie the least amount of 'extras' and mods.

That is the SOHC zc which is a 1.6L that they were referring to above. I'm in the process in putting one in my CRX. It is essentially like the 1.6L that came out of the CRX/Civic Si's (D16A6) and would probably be the best choice as far as ease. I got my motor from Soshin motors for exactly $625 shipped with a 6 month warranty. I've heard good stuff about hmotors also. Keep in mind that you have DPFI, unless you have swapped over to MPFI, so you need to keep your intake manifold unless your converting to MPFI at the time of the install: which I would highly recommend since it will be easy to get to the wiring harness. You would need a new ECU, the PM6 which was used in the Si's. If you check out the FAQ in the EF forum they have several articles on how to convert to MPFI from DPFI. If your not good at soldering or depinning and repinning harnesses, you should hold off. It's not that difficult but you want it to be clean so you don't have to go back in later and clean up any mess. If your doing the swap the best place to go is a junkyard and get the parts you need. You may want to go ahead and get new motor mounts to replace the old ones. Hope this helps.

ive read all about the dpfi to mpfi swap and im good with electrical work so it seems like an easy thing to do except for finding the parts for cheap. my tranny and clutch are going soon so i need a trans to go with it. perferably the si trans cus people says its better gearing. i just want to get all the parts and do it all in a couple days because i have to go to work and college. thanks for all the help though. ill prob have alot more questions soon. thanks
