Default Hitting crisper and clearer...?

I have two alpine type s 10 inch woofers pushed by a 300W alpine amplifier.

When a bassline is playing, it seems that the bass notes are slurred together and not so crisp and clear. These exact subwoofers used to be in a friends car but he gave them to me.

He said to tinker around with the amp and deck settings, told me to turn the amp settings down and the deck settings up.

The amplifier settings that can be adjusted are Gain, Bass, and Filter.

My pioneer deck allows me to adjust the low, med, and high settings and a couple of others that I don't really get.

Any advice to get these to hit clearer and crisper would be appreciated.

You've provided some good info, however, you missed a very key detail...

What kind of box are the subs in?

i would get it properly tuned. turn everything on the amp down and flatten the eq on the head unit. i would give it maybe a quarter of the low pass filter and do half gain with no bass boost and see how that sounds. bass boost basically just distorts your music so its better if you can go with gain and little low pass filter. also if youre head unit has sub out it should have an option for Sw
