Default Transmission question

I have a 90 CRX si. running an obd-1 B18c1 and cable YS1 usdm GSR transmission.

Ive been told by a few people that the YS1 cases can accommodate newer year gear sets.

example: type R gear set, final drive, and LSD inside a cable case.

my question is, are the LS ys1 and GSR ys1 casings the same? i have an opportunity to purchase a 92-93 cable LS YS1 transmission. i dont want to buy it unless i can rebuild it to a shorter gear ratio spec.

That be the truth Same cases on all YS-1 Transmissions...Only difference is the gearstacks. You can easily swap in a Type R stack...ask me how I know
