What do you wear when on your bike?
whatever you want to wear, but it is advisable to wear some riding gear such as a jacket with armor, some leather pants, boots, gloves, and most importantly your helmet. i hope i havent forgotten anything
It Depends on how far I'm going
Short trip around town>> Street clothes + helmet
Long trip>> Street clothes, Aerostich Roadcrafter riding suit, Helmet, Gloves, and Electric vest if its chilly.

for me its like this:
Driving just to get somewhere:
Whatever cloth i usually wear+leather gloves+helmet
But never do i go short sleeved. If i do, i wear a jacket on top
Driving when im going fairly long distance 2hr+ or for carving some spots:
Full leather piece (top and bottom one piece). Basically a racing suit
Bunk Sensors
Racing boots
Leather gloves
Helmet

It depends what I'm doing...
If I'm riding just for the sake of riding: 1pc race suit, back protector, boots/gloves/helmet. Generally on sport rides I tend to release the inner squid, and want to be protected
If it's a commute or somewhere that I'll want to be in street clothes: leather jacket, textile pants over jeans/khakis (Joe Rocket Ballistic, shredded a bit from a getoff), boots/gloves/helmet.

you know whats messed up? i am learning that its those rides 'around town' where you're most likely to get tagged by a cage - and thats when you're gonna sustain the most damage - and thats where most riders wear the least amount of protection.
i am guilty of this too, when i am working on my bike (valves / chain etc) i dont wear any gear - just riding up and down the street listening for something i messed up rattles etc...

I don't even own a bike, but more often than not I see bikers just wearing a helmet and regular old clothes(t-shirt/jeans). To me this doesn't make any sense. Even if you are just going for a short ride vs a long. What's the difference? You can still get tagged by a car and skid across the pavement tearing up your skin. Seems silly to me.

Nice jacket... looks familiar
I always wear my leather joe rocket jacket, gloves, helmet and jeans with timberland goretex boots. I learned the hard way.... Jeans do not provide much to cover your *** when you slide, and get motorcycle boots, my footpeg stabbed through 2 layers of boot and put a hella hole in my foot. This just happened last saturday, I was less than 2 miles from home, running up to the atm hit a large patch of gravel in the middle of the road at 45mph.
Damn dumptrucks riding around with no covers and their rear doors swinging open enough to drop 50 lbs or so of gravel/fill dirt/sand whatever they are clearing from the land near here.
They say most auto accidents happen less than 5 miles from home. I guess some people should think about that when selecting what gear to wear for the "short trips"

Full one piece leathers.. head to toe.. motorcycle riding boost, full face helmet, leather gloves... even if it's down the street for a coke...
trust me... you'll be glad you did!!!

Always:
1) Helmet
2) Riding Jacket
3) Leather Gloves
Going through twisites
4) Sidi Boots
5) Leather riding pants
Its just too much of a hassle to put on the leather pants + boots for short riding.
