i have a question guys... im taking about getting a DC race header.. but i heard that after installing it.. it wont pass state emission test.. dose anyone know if that is true or it will pass emission... thanks!

 

the race header completely removes the cat. So yes, you will fail emissions testing.

 

Now, I just got the header put on my car. There is no such thing as emissions checks in my state. But I know it'll be my luck when they start doing testing... lol

My question is... Why in the world do so many people in states that DO check emissions get race headers and what do they do when it comes time to be checked? (I'm assuming they put the stock stuff back on, but that's an awfully big hassle)

There are some places that will pass your smog for like 200 bucks or something, but I think they are getting harder to come by cause they are getting busted...

 

Many make an O2 similator, which costs $5 to make and it doesn't set the check engine off, but if they stick a mirror under your car and see no cat there is no way around that.

The O2 Sim is easy to make and since '96 and above are OBDII cars get plugged in and if they have no emission check engine lights on they pass without having to hook up to the tail pipe.

 

Make friends with a licensed state inspector.

iam a licensed inspector and i have headers on my eg and full cat back and mine passes emisions legally it all depends on the tunning.
