Need Advice on Wetsand and Buffing
Alright my project car has been painted for a good 8 months and there is a good amount of orange peel. The car is about to be back together and would like to make the paint look better. Its never been wet sanded or buffed so i guess im going to do it. I plan on using 1500 or 2000 to wetsand, now my question is what is a good rubbing compound, polish, and a cheap buffer to use?
If you're gunna use that fine of a grit 2 wetsand, it use the 3M Imperial Microfinishing Rubbing Compound 06011. Use any air or electric buffer on 1400-2000 rpm, but make sure u use the superbuff or the wool pad from 3M
I use 3M materials as well and have been happy. However you might want to invest in a squeegie that is made for checking to see if you have leveled the clear out. Helps out since you really cant tell how far you have gone down when its wet. Harbor freight has a buffer that I use and cost around $30. But make sure you dont go the cheap way on materials and buffing pads.
Most auto paint supply stores should sell the 3m stuff right. I guess ill head up to harbor freight this weekend and check out some buffers. Thanks for all the help
