car experts - i need help
i don't really know much about cars but i am going to check out a rsx. i want to know what i should be looking for and what i need to know. i'll be appreciate if you guys can help thanks
just research...make sure its all oem, check if the cars been repainted, if there is aftermarket parts, make sure they were installed correctly. look out for the tranny, if you feel any grinds(as dc5's often have) make sure it still has warranty as they will rebuild it or give u new shifter cables.
First off you need to make sure it runs okay, no knock or other weird noises(rattles, whines). I would make sure their is no chasis damage its usaully pretty obivous, just look underneath at important parts steering knuckles, suspension parts, steering components. Take a vin number to see if it was wrecked. If it was not reported look chasis, suspension, mostly anything to do with under body. No leaks, most definatly test drive no rattles while braking, turning, or even slowing down with no brakes, while in gear(down shifts). And then of cousre overall bs of the person selling it to you.
Step 1: Make damn sure the car is COLD, so you can know where it's been left (try to hit it in the morning).
Step 2: Look under the car for leaks, drips, etc.
Step 3: Test drive it. If you can, test drive other RSX's so you can get a feel for what is normal, and what isn't.
Step 4: Take it to the dealer. Most of the time they'll run a pre-purchase check on it for you for about $50.
