1991 EX timing question
Can someone tell me how do I get to TDC when cam and distributor are disassembled and timing marks are off. Is all that is needed is to do is bring #1 cylinder to TDC, check that the "up" mark on the cam sprocket is up, the timing mark is aligned, the gear alignment marks (per Haynes) are aligned and the rotor is at #1? PLease advise, Dave
You need to clarify the question a little bit.
If the cam is disassembled or taken out of the car, you don't have a cam pulley to line up with the marks on the pulley that align with the top of the head.
The dist only goes in one way because it has an offset tab that aligns with the slot in the cam that is "disassembled".

Alls well, Once the timing marks were aligned (per Haynes), and the cam sprocket marks lined up with head the distributor lined up automatically with plug #1. Like hondadude aid, it only goes on one way. Thanks, Dude. Ha!
