Anyone use this Humphrey solenoid with the AEM EMS? For boost control.

I remember someone recommended this awhile back, but did anyone ever try it? I'm about to ditch my GM solenoid, for this one.

The EMS should work with any pulse width solenoid within the frequency range of the software. Thats the only thing I would be concerned out is the operating frequency, I dont see that listed.

Apexi, Perrin, AEM, but they are all overpriced. Those valves are freaking 25 bucks.
i run one of those on my car, works fine. set at 31hz

if youd like, pm me, and remind me to send you all the settings for my boost controller.

How comes yours has 2 philip head screws on it. I looked at the larger pic on their website and it doens't look tapped for those. Just curious, maybe I am looking into that too much.
yes aem ems and the solenoid comes with 2 holes in it. i just slipped some stainless bolts through it to hold it down to the mounting tab i made.

Ohh the holes are straight through, even better. I can easily make a mounting tab for it too then. Awesome. send me your calibration file if you can. andy@bodykitsnw.com
Where did you buy your solenoid from? Same place I linked above or somewhere else. If it was online can you link me please.

There are a lot of different solenoids that look like the one pictured. Look in Grainger's catalog, there's a lot of them in there. I don't know much about them, but there's alot more to them than how they look.

Your right, this looks identical, about the same specs.

What I did was I looked at the specs of the AEM solenoid from MAC Valves and compared them.

I actually went to both of the manuf. site tony and compared the specs. They are identical for both valves. I sometimes wonder if they are both relabeling someone elses product. Cause they not only look indentical, specs are too.
Or one of them is the actual manuf. and the other is relabeling the product.

That is dirt cheap! I would mainly be concerned with reaction time and reliability. We wont know until you try it Andy, keep us updated
I've used the solenoids that innovative uses, which look identical to these, with motec, and had 2 solenoid failures. One of them was on Art's car, and one on Pro Drag's race car. We were running them at 25hz, same as we run the apex and aem solenoids at. Never had a solenoid failure with the aem or apex.
AEM uses MAC valves, and they around $25 last I checked. I believe I have posted part numbers for these in the past.
I tried to buy one of those MAC valves from a distributor, and they wouldn't sell one to me because I was an individual and not a business. The lady said it was due to liability reasons and because I was using it for my "car", what a bunch of crock. But, you can go out and buy a GUN and kill people, as long as you have $$ and aren't a felon..
So I ended up going with a GM Boost Solenoid instead.. I wasn't questioned as how what I was going to use it for, which was asked by the MAC distributor rep..

Why is everyone ditching the Gm ones? I just got one from hondata, and i see alot of people not wanting to run them now WHy?
Is it becasue they are a open solenoid?

There not nearly as fast as the MAC/AEM/Apexi (there all the same) valves and they make an annoying ticking sound. lol
