Question about using a externally wastegated T3 houseing on GT28r

Question about using a externally wastegated T3 houseing on GT28r

Im thinking of buying a GT28r turbo for pretty cheap, but i want to convert it to external wastegate. Is there a T3 exhaust housing that I can swap on or the only way i can convert it to external wastegate is weld up the flapper.

You should be able to use one of the T3 housings available for the GT28RS. The hot sides are the same, the RS has a little bigger compressor.

The GT28RS/GT2871R T3 turbine housing I have has a different turbine housing machining so it won't fit the GT28R.

You can try to see if ATP Turbo can machine one for you, for $250+. Probably not worth it, on only a GT28R.
