Did honda screw up on 1998-2002 accord v6 trannies?
I was searching through craigslist for this specific car and most of the people are saying that they have rebuilt transmissions on low milage cars. I figured I'd ask the question here then do some research about it.
Almost seems as if the transmission is defective.

Yeah. Simply said. However, they did extend the Warranty on them to 10Yrs/ 100K Miles. "Ford... At least they circled the problem"

yea i'm on my second, was covered under warranty which was nice but just sucked ***...wouldn't wanna go throught that again
how did it suck *** if you got a free tranny installed? what really "sucks ***" is paying for it yourself. believe me.
the trannies were made specifically for the i4's but Honda placed the trannies in the v6's as well and you know the outcome. The trannies were made for the i4's since they have low hp.

it sucks *** because he had to go through the trouble of his tranny crapping out on him and then getting it fixed.
does anyone know what exactly was the flaw of these trannys?

That's not exactly true.

One of the biggest problems was that the 2nd clutch pack wasn't getting enough lubrication. When the recall was initially sent out, you could bring your car (specific years and models, including Acura CLs and TLs) in so that the dealership could add special oil squirters that were supposed to help prevent the failures. I haven't heard of many people getting the letter about the oil squirters (besides myself and a couple others), so I don't imagine it was a very successful solution.

I have a 2000 accord ex V6
that i bought used 2 months ago, it has 86256 mile on it. should i take the car in to get the trannie checked, would the warranty still apply...

Your tranny is still under warranty, but unless you car is exhibiting problems they'll probably just send you on your way.
