Default Out of curiosity. . .

Why does everyone get a hard on when they see a five lug conversion? Not a flame, just curious. . .

because its more rare, and it let's people know you have done a mod to your car.

to me.. RARE is the key word. that's the only reason. can't think of anything else.

i realy dont liek it myself,i dont know it kinda bothers me when people put it on theyre 92-95 model civics, that is a type r suspension and there were no type r in those year models,i liek them on the original cars they came on,integra type r and civic type r,but thats just me,i personaly wouldnt do it,then you wouldne be able to sport a lot of good factory rims like si's and gsr's.oh well people will be people.

if u want rare item, maybe a civic run with 3 wheel is rare too

anyway, i dont think 5 lug worth the price. if it come with the car, great. if it dont, just mod the brake.

its a great up grade on brake wise . went i was looking to upgrade my breaks i wanted gsr but for the amount that shops wanted almost 1200 for the front and rear i decided it was better 5 lug .better braking and also IMO the rims that fit type R's are some of my favorites ,so not problem on the rims issue .

i know type r looks better but if you think about it,the money spent out on it im not sure its worth it at least 1g on wheels and another 1500 on the suspension,im sure it is a whole lot better than factory but you can buy another car with that much money if you think about it or do other thing with that much.but hey everone gots theyre taste.

i think the 5 lug conversion is more aesthetic than useful....granted if you want the bigger brakes, do you, i can't hate...

mainly people just do it to add to the list of mods.

actually your wrong. the 4 lug spindle is much lighter than the 5 lug. Some crazy people around here swap out their 5 lug type R suspension for 4 lug, as well as a lot of crazy people in japan.

5 lug rear, 4 lug front. if u want to go road course 5 lug is great, for draggin 4 lug is best

maybe it's better for corners and turns
coz ppl in japan and hong kons play corners, not drag....

so my fault sorry

no, 5 lug is not necessary to be better in corner. maybe the bigger hub OD make it better, but i doubt it.

I decided for the 5 lug because it was so much cheaper than buying nice light rims, a set of Volks along can set you back anywhere from 1500 to 2000, but your brakes aren't any better. I also got the 5 lug because it stops way better than nearly any aftermarket brake kit, plus it's cheaper than most aftermarket big brake kits where you only get the front brakes, no rears. And to be perfectfully honest, I needed the braking power after doing my motor swap, I couldn't stop anymore, DX brakes suck even with aftermarket brake pads!!!

Thanks for the answers guys.

So basically better stopping power, cosmetics, and lighter wheels.

1500 for a 5 lug suspension swap! Wow! I didn't thing it was that much. . .

I agree with what he said. Just like a Civic Type R decal on an EK hatch, if it came with the car, great. If it didn't, just don't put it on because that's lame

five lug conversions... pricey and rare. i think anything that fits in those catergories is desired by everyone.

Yeah it's a mod I can really afford yet...I wouldnt mind 5-lug but I would prob put that 1500 towards engine work!

Yeah, but you can get that same feeling, if not better from a set of aftermarket brake pads and rotors.

I think 5 lug is a little bit of hype..some people do it because they like the way it looks..
some do it because it makes the car stop better.

I did it because my suspension was bent from my accident. Fixed now
Plus it's baller
