Default OEM ftw... or aftermarket headgasket?

If i bought a thinner headgasket for my poor man type-r would it increase the compression enough to notice the difference? or should i just go with my first thought and stick with the oem?

As long as it's a quality headgasket you should be fine. If it's some brand no one's heard of? Go oem or find a name brand thinner gasket.

It's probably going to add .2 compression. So 1 whp per .1 compression = 2hp. You won't notice.

the thinner the headgasket the more comp and as long a name brand ( spoon mugen buddy club cometic toda ) you will be fine. average comp increase is between .2 to .4 points of comp.
