a b16 trans with lsd is the same an itr. i dont really know what else you were saying. however, you need to define your goals with the setup before you ask which is "better". good luck with your build.

first of all any stock head, or any head for that matter, wouldn't last long if you wanna rev the **** out of it, whether if its a gsr, b16, or type r. USDM type r tranny is basically a b16 tranny with lsd as cooper stated, but a JDM type r tranny is different. Do some research about engine building, know what kind of racing your going to be doing, set a price range, set an acheivable power with that price range, and then start your build.

the b16 tranny has a 4.40 final drive which the usdm and 96-97 JDM ITR trannys have, the 98+ spec itr tranny has a 4.70 final drive

as for the head, if you plan to keep it stock bottom end then get a gsr head and upgrade the valvetrain. If you use a b16/itr head you will get slightly better flow but lose compression due to the larger combustion chamber volume.
