AEM Big Brake Kit for Integra Civic Del Sol
hey you guys...i juz have a question about this bbk that i saw on craigslist.. here is the add: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/299506973.html i wanted to know if 16's will fit in these things... i have the fno1r-c 5zigens...lemme know. any info would be appreciated. thanks alot.
thanks adam..i appreciate the info..i was thinkin at least 16's juz like the wilwood kit. i have 16's right now so i shouldnt see any problem....but u think aem is good wit brakes or should i juz stick wit powerslot or better yet the wilwood kits.??
I'd personally never buy AEM big brakes. The pads sit too far away from the center of the rotor. So eventually when the rotor gets worn down, there will be a lip in the meat of the rotor that will rub on the edge of the pads. My friend called AEM about this issue when he installed them, and they said that there's nothing they can do because that's just the way they are. I've only seen these on 2 different cars, so maybe others haven't had this problem.
I think the AEM is a good kit. Do a search on it here see what people think.
Wilwood is a proven kit too, if you can find them reasonably priced.

I was doing some seaching and I agree with a lot of what was said in this thread.
A GSR caliper on good rotors with good fluid will easliy lock up a civic's narrow tires. Bigger brake kits are more for bling and road racing than anything else. Another important note is for you to swap to rear discs if you don't have them and get rid of the consistent brake fade that follows drums.
I now vote for GSR w/ good rotors and fluids.
^^^ I posted that from another thread, i now have two big brake threads I'm in.

I looked for information on the aem brake kit but couldn't find any.AEM doesnt produce them anymore but, most of the other big brake kits require 17" wheels for clearance. So if you go look at them, measure it first. If it is 330mm or larger you will need +17" wheels.
thansk for that info...i must've overlooked that info coz i swear i went to the aem website 3x but all i ever saw was the info on aem brake pads but thanks dude!!!
i might juz take your word for it...since im not really a serious track guy. the trip to the track next saturday is only my 2nd for this year!!! i prolly juz convert my rear drums to discs instead...thanks adam1
Well, spoon is ridiculous as far as price is concerned.
Integra brakes with good fluid/rotors/pads will be plenty to stop the narrow tires of a civic.
Also a lot of Honda brake fade can be eliminated from the rear disc conversion. Big brake setups for hondas are IMO for track guys and hardparkers.

well not even for autocross as you're typically just driving around cones in a parking lot.
on a road course where you hit high speeds and need to slow down quickly without worrying about brake fade.
