Hello! I have an 03 rsx type S an i wanted to convert the tail lights to the 05 - 06 tails. just wondering if anyone has personally done this and could let me know what i need. I.E. Bumper, Tail Light Wiring Harness, Hatch, Of Course the new tail lights and if any other body modification is needed. Thanks in advance.

 

you will need the 05 bumper, tail lights, bracketes, wiring harness, hatch. you will also need to drill a hole for the tail light bolt to go through. i've seen it done, i do like the 05 tails better just a tiny bit

Why would you need the Hatch for it? there exactly the same, the tail lights are only different on the bottom of the lights, the tops are shaped the same....

 

i heard it wont sit flush....maybe i'm wrong

 

i think all 02-05 hatches are identical

 

Hatch or not, sound like a pretty big project for me just to swap lights.

What ever floats your boat I guess.

 

Thanks for the input, but has anybody done this conversion first hand? It seems the only item in debate is the hatch, so i can assemble the rest of the parts and hopefully let everyone know if the hatch is really needed or not.

 

The hatches are the same for both 02-04 and 05+. The bolts from the 05+ tail lights wont line up with the holes in 02-04 frame so you will either have too shave them off or drill new holes in the frame. You will also need to buy the reverse light sockets and turn signal sockets to fit in the 05 lights.

 

u need to change the rear bumper and rear tailights ... u can re wire your bulbs to work just like an 05 set up no harness is needed

 

i personally like the 02-04 taillight over the 05-06

it has more personality

 

Not judging anyone here, but...

I have an EP3, not an RSX, but I have obviously seen many of them. The 02-04? headlights and taillights look better IMO. They stand out more having the bumpers shaped around them. The amber turn signal looks better AND IS MORE FUNCTIONAL (SAFER) than all red tails.

I know it is all opinions of those that own their cars, and that is fine, but I always see posts talking about changing to the bland (IMO) 05-06 head/tail lights and never the reverse.

It is similar to the mindset of the tuner market. When a car comes with amber signals from the factory, everyone wants clear signals. Then, when a car comes with clear signals, they must be changed to amber. Now I have the amber sidemarkers on my car, but because the EP3 looks butt ugly with amber bumper light in the front, red in the rear, and CLEAR on the side? NO! Amber to match the front.

Well, I know why I don't change my headlights to the older style b/c I just spent 27k on my brand new car and I want it to look brand new and not old. I think that's the whole idea of changing the 02-04's to look like 05-06's so that they look new, and maybe they like the look better, but most of all they're just doing it so it looks like their car's newer, but that's just my opinion. If I wanted my car to look as if it were a 02-04 I would have simply bought an 02-04 and save me a lot more money, but if you want to spend 24k on a brand new type s and make it look like its an 02-04 type s go right ahead

You don't need to purchase another fcking trunk with glass ..
All you need it's the tail's , bracket's , rear bumper , and the little harness for the tail's .
